Le Jog 2009 Training & Briefing Day

Sunday 25th October, Motor Heritage Centre, Gaydon

The Training and Briefing day for the 2009 LE JOG will once again be open to any competitor who has, or is about to submit, an entry on this year’s event. In addition we will be delighted to welcome any potential competitor, who just wants to find out what LE JOG is all about. The training day is particularly useful to anyone who has not competed on LE JOG before, although regulars often attend as there are usually a few tips to be picked up. You will also have the chance to meet fellow competitors, senior officials and perhaps find potential team members. Whilst part of the morning will be spent talking about navigation and regularity sections, Tour entrants will still find the day useful and informative .

One of our scrutineers will be in attendance and will be pleased to talk to you about any issues with your car. If you want to bring your car along, the scrutineer will be happy to give it a quick check over for eligibility and mechanical condition so that any potential problems can be resolved well before December.

The Motor Heritage Centre is close to Junction 12 of the M40, and is signposted from the motorway. The provisional program for the day is as follows:

09.30 - Signing-on and tea/coffee

10.00 - Introduction to the day (Peter Nedin)

10.05 - About LE JOG: an outline of the event  (Peter Nedin)

10.15 - Controls, paperwork & Liege Timing (Harriet Wood)

11.10 - Tea/Coffee

11.25 - Car preparation:what to bring/what to do (John Wood)

12.00 - Basic Navigation & Jogularity (Tony Davies)

12.45 - Crew preparation (Peter Nedin)

13.00 - Close of session & issuing of handouts for the afternoon exercise

13.00 - Buffet lunch and a chance to look around the museum or visit the large-scale model aircraft exhibition (10 – 25 ft wingspan) taking place at the Heritage Motor Centre

14.00 - Optional Navigation exercise, including map references, Tulip diagrams and a sample Jogularity section. You will need to bring OS Landranger map 151, pencils, romer, etc (these items will also be available to purchase on the day)

There will be a “drop in” session between 14.00 and 16.30 open to anyone who wishes to cover specific aspects of HERO events, or learn more about classic reliability trials.

The cost of attending the 2009 LE JOG Training Day is £35 per person, including lunch, tea/coffee, and admission to the museum (there may be an additional charge for admission to the model aircraft exhibition) – the self service restaurant will also be open. To reserve a place, download a booking form and send to the HERO office with your remittance.
